We both know that there are two common types of practice in the field of search engine optimization, the white hat practices and the black hat practices. Those who follow the codes of optimization are called white hats, while those people whom go a little bit way beyond the ethics are considered spammers or black hat.
The recent changes in search engines algorithm especially Google’s Panda and Penguin update hit almost every website, penalizing those who are considered spam. Supposedly, black hat practitioners should already stop, but no, they continue sending and creating more spam that ever.
Did it ever wonder to any of you why black hat is still ongoing? Didn’t it ever cross your mind that, yeah I am an SEO why not try some black hat tactics? Moreover, is there really a full proof white hat? I mean not even a single ounce of black hat practice?
Some internet marketing experts stated that you can’t really tell if a certain Ecommerce Web Designer administer a design that is favorable only for white hat practices unless you checked the coding. Again, is there a full proof of white hat only?
As a member of an established Search Engine Optimization Company and a part time blogger, there is a time that I wonder if there really is a clean white hat and so I tried asking different persons in the same field, and you know what I learned?
They can’t also tell as much as I can’t clarify it to myself, perhaps at some point of your link building promotion you’ve stumble on something or performed a tiny bit black hat without even noticing. Maybe at some point of optimizing a website you have added a code or something, a command or a meta that can actually be considered as a spam by the search engines. It’s a fifty-fifty result.
So now I am asking you, your view on this issue, are there really a purely white hat link building/promotion?
Below is something I stumble upon while researching:
Do you still remember the time when your mobile phone is only used to call? Then after a year or two you can already composed a message and send it to someone on your list, then in a jiffy here we are with smartphones, androids and all. Suddenly text messaging is a taboo, all smartphone owners can now send email, take picture and use the social networks through their phones.
Internet marketing experts saw the huge market it will bring for Ecommerce Websites, while Ecommerce web designers are busy catering the demands that mobile commerce would bring.
A recent study shows that $5.04 billion will the estimated mobile advertising profit by the year 2015.
See the infographic below for a more precise understanding on what I am trying to say:
What's a traditional cellphone anyway? For sure all of us have experience using one, or perhaps seen one, a cellular phone in which one can composed and send text message, call someone, play games snake to be exact.
Tell me one person in our generation who didn't play snakes in nokia 3310 in which other features are stop watch and calculator among other things.
On the other hand, smarthphones are mini computers, does this make sense? Well, cellular phones using operating systems similar/close to computers.
Smartphone users are usually if not generally, are those ages 25 to 34, for me its because its the time where we don't have such great responsibilities such as wife and kids, during those age we are starting our careers while other are at the peak, thus, smartphone's are must have's. Dealing with future investors or composing an email while stuck on traffic, reading news etc.
See, as stated on the first paragraph, mobile commerce is a huge market that the business sector shouldn't miss.
Why smartphone's? For sure all smartphone users either have laptops or tablets, but why smartphone? I have a laptop and a smartphone, but come to think of it, I uses my phone more than my laptop.
At work I always have my phone beside me, to text, check my calendar, call someone, play a game, log on facebook, while my laptop is used only during weekends or at night and the laptop I'm using at the office is used for job alone, well sometimes for checking my FB.
See the huge effect of using smartphone's? Anyway here's the whole infographic, thanks to HighTables.com

A moment ago I was checking my site on the tools SEOMoz provides and was glad I did. I found out a lot of things to improve a website or a blog and it’s really interesting to know that certain common practices are hurting our own website. That sometimes what we learned to be good is bad and what’s bad is sometimes good.
Take for example a certain website that uses the keyword "Search Engine Optimization Company" actually it’s a competitor’s blog I checked.
So there on the research tools SEOMoz provides I used the On-Page Optimization option, enter the keyword and URL then run the report. It was a shocking result knowing they have a much better reputation that BIMC, nevertheless, they still have an excellent grade from SEOMoz thinking that it was launched for about three-four months.
Things to Learn

And that's it, a rundown back memory lane. Some of it are so 2000 late but hey, we need to go back the basics to fully understand the present. I do hope you dont take it against me for not explaining this topic further, and I do pray you read the images so you can understand it without me explaining.
Pardon me for posting this last par way
too late, just got a little bit busy with other things that I miss out posting
this one.
Video Transcription: As stated on the
previous parts of “How to Avoid over Optimization Penalty?” these are all my
own understanding about Rand Fish’s lecture. If any case there’s something that
I may, or may have understand or stated incorrectly tell me so I can make
amends. If you have a much better explanation, leave your comment and let the
readers see how you view this topic.
Footer Filled with Links
Instead of adding information that
footer’s usually carry’s, you filled it with your list of links which is not a
good idea, moreover, it’s unnoticeable, gray font on a gray template.
Text Content Blocks
It’s a phrase, a whole sentence and worst
a whole paragraph of nonsense after a really engaging explanation or
information of something, a certain topic in which you as a reader is too
engrossed reading and then wham bam!, something way too unrelated to what the
former paragraph is.
Do you remember “keyword repetition””
It’s like in every paragraph or at the very least a few times your keyword
should be included in your content so that it helps the search engine, but I’m
telling you, this so 2000, back there, Panda even Penguin has not even crossed
the minds of search engine engineers.
What’s important today is content. Again,
what we need and what matters most to search engines are informative, useful,
high quality and relevant content.
Now that you know this things, as much as
possible even if you have little knowledge in this field or you are in the
point where you were going to asked for the assistance of a search engine
optimization agency, at least you have this account, this list as a guide in
checking if the one you hired is doing good thing on your website or is
probably creating, administering something bad that will soon be the end of
your ecommerce website.
In terms of Internet Marketing, even
Search Engine Optimization which one do you prefer, Black hat or White Hat? We
both know the difference between the two, internet
marketing experts will definitely choose white hat because they already
know what’s in store for them, but for the benefit of those who can’t
distinguish the difference, those who just started in this arena, I’ll discuss
it a little bit.
White Hat Tactics are techniques that
follow certain ethics, no for me, white hats follow ethics, search engine
guidelines and terms of service moreover, they administer campaigns that are
not hurtful to other SEO’s as well as the website itself.
On the other hand, Black hat are those
techniques that are considered spammy and in the long run will hurt the website
because black hat doesn’t follow the guidelines that search engines lay out.
So the question now is what will you
choose, Black hat or White hat?
In black hat you’ll be buying links and
perform link exchanges, while on white hat one can build a link building
strategy.
Search Engines, particularly Google wants
the best possible result for their users, best meaning a website that gives a
trusted, relevant, useful and informative content. White hat practices covers,
content writing, keyword analyzing, and most of the time asked the help of Ecommerce Web Designers in terms of the
website’s design for a better and friendly navigation.
On the other hand, black hats will
perform link exchange “I’ll link to you if
you link to me.” The worst thing here is that most of the time this websites share
a different niche, meaning no relation at all. So where is the relevancy here?
Moreover, you’ll definitely need to spend some cash to be able to do link
exchange especially for websites that are already trusted and authorities of
their own.
Next, black hats implement keywords stuffing,
while as stated earlier, white hats analyze keywords. Once you analyze keywords
you can incorporate the best possible one, a keyword that can cater a broader
category resulting to a more targeted audience without the need to over stuff all
possible keywords in the content.
Remember, what you need is trust and to be
able to gain one, you need visitors, and visitors are not just search engine
bots, readers, a target audience, so what does an audience want, content,
informative, useful, relevant, not something that gives unrelated, keyword
stuffed information.
Another technique that SEO’s perform is being
active on social networks. Having one profile is much better than launching
countless social profiles that you cant be active all the time.
We all know how social media becomes a big part
in terms of search engine optimization. Signals coming from twitter, facebook,
linkedin, pinterest etc are considered to be a source of ranking factors for
every web page. Having more than one profile can’t really build a social
following, you cant interact and be active all the time because you have numerous
accounts to handle unlike having one social profile that targets a broader
category in which you can be active 24/7 if you want.
So in the end, the question is still which is
which, Black Hat over White Hat, it’s not up to you.
Video Transcription: My own understanding about Rand Fish’s lecture, just correct me if I am wrong, or better yet give me your own view on how well you understand the topic.
Authenticity in Titles
We all know how important title’s are, it is used to attract search engine robots and make a user engaged into the topic. We also know that we should include our targeted keywords on our titles, but going way too overboard is a major no, no.
As Rand Fish stated “Titles should sound real, something that was written by a human” something that both search engines and humans can understand without losing interest (human) or being penalized (search engines).
Example: Using keyword repetition. It only makes your post look spammier, malicious, useless etc. Consequently, according to the video it is “One of the crappiest things”. You will rank in the major positions but, your click through rates will go way down.
How? Simple, you as a user search for "Internet Marketing Expert", the search engine robots will give you a list of websites having this keyword but, you as a human can distinguished what you are looking for, what information you need, and what website administer the information you are searching. Using a too malicious title only makes a user think twice, thrice or more before clicking your link, or never click at all, thus, click through rates decreases.

How long has it been? Two decades, can you believe that? It’s been two decades since web designing started, some of you might not even born or still a small kid during the very first time a web design was introduced.
It started as a simple way of transmitting data, then new technologies arise to improve its use, web designing tools to make it even more interesting, now Ecommerce Web Designer's are still improving their skills to keep up with the fast pace changes in this industry.
Can you imagine, during the early 1950’s, the web is intended for the use of transmitting information that American scientists gathered? And as time passed different advancement was made. Take a look at the infographic below.
See how wed design change so fast? You haven't even grasp the first one, there is already a string of newly developed systems, language and tools. From a simple exchange of data to an Ecommerce Website and now it started to penetrate Mobile Designing pack with a much cooler and nicer applications.

Search Engine Optimization, a process in which an individual, preferably someone who has the knowledge in this industry or a Search Engine Optimization Agency implements in order to obtain the highest possible search result for a certain keyword a website administers.
Search Engine Optimization is also used by Ecommerce Web Designers to establish a design that is search bots friendly, not to mention a design that caters a touch of professionalism and easy navigation that users look for in a website.
Implementing an SEO is not a one night process; in fact, I can say it’s a gamble. One wrong move and your website might be penalized. One wrong code and it will take forever to fix it especially if you are not a professional.
Overly optimizing your website might result to a dreadful effect as Google, one of the most famous search engine announced that they will be penalizing websites that performs extreme optimizations to the point that only search engines can understand and read the content.
Anyway, as stated above, search engine optimization is not, and will never be an overnight process. It takes time to gather your resources as well as to see the results of your optimization. There are no shortcuts, and you shouldn’t carry-out short cuts such as the things stated below:
Not performing a research on keywords to be implemented. “Knowing what keyword you want is not enough” You have more than one page, more or less each page caters a different product/service, thus a different keyword is used, using a general or a broad keyword is a good choice but what about a much categorized one, or something a user might think (long tail keywords) and you as the owner doesn’t know it can be used. Consequently, not performing a research on keywords means you can’t tell or predict the huge possibility of competition.
Exclusion of a Meta Tag Copyright. Title tags, a link that is clickable for users and most of the time being indexed by search engines for every click. Meta tag description includes description of the page, and your keywords. Heading tags (H1-H6) are tags that are search engine friendly as words inside this code is the first thing that search engine reads. Also, use tags on images as “images are invisible to search engines”. So you see how skipping simple Meta tags can affect your pages in the search results?
Not performing an optimization for each page. Okay, stated above “over optimization can have a bad effect” but internet marketing experts stated that "not optimizing your pages is also unacceptable". Keep in mind that all pages are important, this means that the homepage is not the only page you should optimize. Did you know that search engines rank individual web pages and not websites as a whole? Build a link trust for each page and you’ll be surprised by the result.
Internet marketing, a huge term that encompass a broad number of facts needed to be followed and some to avoid.
When it comes to internet marketing, what do you think is the most important? Is it your websites design? Or maybe you’re content? Perhaps the services and the products you offer.
Who should you put your trust into, or better yet, where should you put your trust? Should it be your ecommerce web designer who is responsible for implementing user friendly website navigation and design? Maybe you are considering of asking for the help of an internet marketing expert
Stop, before you go into a much deeper thought, don’t you think you should learn the basic processes of this industry first before you took chances or blame an internet marketing expert?
As the title stated, “How to succeed and the reason to fail”, not knowing what the basics of this industry is like wasting all the resources. How will you know the things needed and the things that are inaccurately implemented by the people you hire if you are badly informed?
Read, research and if you can implement what you have learned much better. Read things that is related to this industry as well as to your niche. Conduct a research on what customer seeks, what search engines would love to see and the best practices you should implement. Practice, the best thing to learn is to practice right.
Utilized your website design, think as if you are the one who’s going to use it and not as the owner of the site. Being the owner, you would like to add this and that, but as a user, all you are looking for are great content, useful products and services, superb customer service and an easy navigation.
Create a strategy. First, target a certain audience and stick to it. Use a general term that can cover a broad category. Then, generate useful and catchy content. Optimized your website as well as the content, do not forget the images. Next, Link Build, you can asked a Search Engine Optimization Company or do it yourself. Then join social networks and be an active member, communicate, discuss, debate and built trust.
Add Analytics. In order to track down everything that is happening on your site. The sales that has been made, the things and time that each visitor spends as well as to get some tips and ideas on what to implement the next time.
We call them the best internet marketing company that offers the best internet marketing service and help us boost our business into a sky rocketing success. Did you know who’s behind the success of your internet marketing campaigns and honestly a great aid to you in your marketing tactics?
Yes, it is important that we know exactly who are these masters and geniuses (forgive me for the pun words) we are working with, and know exactly what they are really doing that makes us satisfied. Let’s know them.
The SEO Content Writers
Content writers are people who provide articles, PR write-ups and engaging copies that attract people to the site. These people work closely with SEO specialists and SEO Team leaders to push or target a particular search term on their copies. They are mostly effective to work with “tail search terms”.
The SEO Link Builders
I think this is a good base for experienced link builders I get to know from the field. A good link specialist often spend hours on the computer reading blogs, studying link graphs and have SEO tools installed on their browsers. Their day to day tasks involves submitting sites to directories, dropping links on blogs (not to spam but to build good networking), helping people find useful content through social bookmarks and even engages in social network activities.
The Search Specialists or SEO Specialist
SEO Specialists are the “Most Active Guys” of the team. They are the ones who optimized content, tweak Meta data, generate reports and sometimes work with technicalities of the site. They are most of the time in front of Google Analytics and are reading fellow SEO Blogs. Though not all SEO specialists are not of the same level, SEO managers or SEO Supervisors are there to assist them and review their work.
The SEO Team Leader or SEO Supervisor
Since SEO Managers/ Online Marketing Managers have too much on their plate, SEO team leaders or Supervisors are there to make sure that strategies are properly communicated and executed to the SEO team to achieve target results. These people work closely with in-house or outsource content writers, link builders and PPC specialists. SEO team leaders/ supervisors compile production reports, ranking and link reports and often discuss it with their SEO managers.
The SEO Manager or Online Marketing Manager
People assigned to this post manage a team of online marketing specialists such as PPC managers, SEO specialists, content writers, social media specialists and link builders. SEO managers or Online marketing managers should be proficient with the latest trends on Search, E-commerce and can speak the language of in-house developers and programmers since Search Team and Web Development team often work together.
The Search Director or Online Marketing Directors
These types of executives lead their entire organization in terms of profitability and achieving their company’s online marketing goals. Online Marketing Directors set the strategies, budget, KPIs and create over-all targets for the entire company at a minimal course of one year. These individuals report directly to the CEOs, Presidents and VPs for both sales and marketing departments. In fact, they work for e-commerce sites or retail companies that generates around $20 Million – $500 Million in profits and boost them up.

Get your goal as realistic as possible
Avoid targeting narrowed or specific keywords like “car” and “shoes” since I think you don’t have a huge budget to hit them up. Try to focus your campaigns on “long tail” keywords, after all people don’t search like generic keywords like ”cars” but usually on “best cars in the US” or “Cheapest cars in the US” – this might get you rank well on search engines.
Always follow Google Webmaster Guidelines
The most common mistakes I think on most SEO Project Campaigns is the least they acknowledge or understand - Google Webmaster Guidelines. They keynote is already given; all you need to do is follow them. SEO Practitioners every so often make the mistake of focusing only on link building strategies, forgetting on-page optimization and conversion rate optimization and also stuffs like titles and H1 tags or keyword density can make a difference.
Think about Quality over Quantity Back links
This is just so simple to explain and though the very least that most internet marketing peps understand – Quality over quantity issue on back links. Let’s say five high quality links is way much better than a thousand low quality back links. Your back links should come from sites with better or high authority and of course should be relevant to your niche.

Keywords are the root and the main concern in any SEO campaigns. The best keyword is the one that brings visitors that are ready to purchase whatever you are selling. You might need Google keyword tool and other tools which are available right for you which won’t cost you much a penny.
